Soltilo Angkor face in-form Boeung Ket test

- HS Manjunath

DEFENDING champions and league table-toppers Boeung Ket Angkor face newcomers Soltilo Angkor in Saturday’s 3:30pm kick-off at Olympic Stadium as the Metfone C-League returns to action this weekend.

The league then breaks again for Khmer New Year and the Cambodian under-21s’ trip to Brunei for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy later this month.

With three wins on the trot and their foreign players kicking into good form, Boeung Ket can reasonably expect a tension-free outing against the Siem Reap-based side, who are gradually coping with the pressures of playing in the top tier of competition.

At 3pm at Western Stadium, Visakha will once again lean on their strong North Korean strikeforce to deal with Asia Euro United, who almost grabbed a draw at Boeung Ket before going down in a seven-goal affair at the start of the season. Despite Visakha’s strength in depth, AEU are not a side to be treated lightly.

The matchup of the day will be a home game for six-time champions Phnom Penh Crown, who entertain NagaWorld at RSN Stadium at 6pm.

Crown and Naga are level with seven points, each having won two games and drawn one in three gameweeks.

In the three matches carded for Sunday, Electricite du Cambodge host National Police at 3:00pm, while Ministry of National Defence will kick off at 3:30pm at Olympic Stadium against Western Phnom Penh.

Angkor Tiger travel from their Siem Reap base to Svay Rieng Stadium to face this year’s Hun Sen Cup winners Svay Rieng Preah Khan Reach at 6pm.
