Capital hosts this year’s Cambuild

- Hin Pisei

OVER 350 international companies from 23 nations have descended on the capital’s Diamond Island Centre for this year’s Cambuild expo, which kicked off on Wednesday.

AMB Tarsus Events Group director Andrew Siow whose company is charged with organising the threeday event said it is the largest construction exhibition the Kingdom has ever seen.

“Cambuild will give participants the opportunity to gain knowledge and see modern technology within the construction sector,” he said.

Board of Architects Cambodia secretary-general Phoung Sophan said the rapid growth of the construction sector has necessitated the use of new technologies and materials.

He said the quality of living spaces must be in line with national and international standards.

“The event serves to inspire and encourage builders, architects, designers and engineers and to turn their attention toward boosting Smart City concepts which will make our cities safer and more environmentally friendly.”

Security cameras and tools

Entities from China, Italy, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand are participating in the expo this year.

LHK Construction Supplies general manager He Meng Srorn which imports bathroom accessories from abroad, said by joining Cambuild, the company expects to see sales increase because it has an opportunity to explain the quality and benefits of its products to participants.

Bun Chansopheap, CEO of TKS Group which imports Makita construction products from Japan, said in recent years, the use of ad- vanced technologies has increased steadily.

“Sales of my high-tech products have increased steadily while the sales of low-tech products have not increased,” he said.

Wang Hongfeng, sales manager at LoxuLoxu Digital (Cambodia), which imports security cameras, indicated that the use of such products in Cam- bodia has increased significantly compared to three years ago.

“The growth of Cambodians’ income has pushed up sales of safety cameras over the past eight months by between 20 and 30 per cent over the same period last year,” he said.

AMB Tarsus says it expects 10,000 visitors to the Cambuild expo which runs through Friday.
