PM: My life is needed to serve the people

PRIME Minister Hun Sen on Sunday said his shoulder sprain had been “successfully treated” by Singaporean doctors and mocked unnamed critics who had wished him dead.

In his Facebook post on Sunday, Hun Sen said he would not die easily because the “death controller” let him live to serve the people.

The mockery was apparently made in response to rumours of his deteriorating health conditions after he cancelled some meetings scheduled for this week.

“After careful treatment by [Singaporean] doctors between 2am and 3am Singaporean time, my right shoulder sprain was successfully treated. The only loss is that doctors have instructed me to stop playing golf for a while, which I could oblige easily,” he said.

Hun Sen said while the vast majority of people prayed for his quick recovery, a handful of people had insulted his life on Facebook, either by praying for his death or producing fake news on his health condition.

“To all the naysayers, if you can stop, please stop. If you conduct politics by simply waiting for me to die so you can take over, please wait until your next life because the death controller does not need my life now, at least not within the next 40 years,” he said.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Hun Sen said he would cancel all meetings scheduled for this week as he needed to leave the country for a medical checkup and treatment of his right shoulder sprain in Singapore.

“Due to the problems with my right shoulder, my Singaporean doctors required me to go for an examination and treatment. I would like to apologise to all foreign and Cambodian friends who are scheduled to meet me this week,” he said.

Government spokesman Phay Siphan said Hun Sen’s health condition was a private matter and referred reporters to the prime minister’s cabinet.

“I don’t know. It concerns Samdech [Hun Sen] and his doctors. This is private,” he said.
