- Kim Sarom

THE Ministry of Interior’s AntiDrug Department on Thursday continued to question a suspect over his alleged involvement in trafficking nearly 4kg of drugs.

Meas Virith, secretary-general of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD), told The Post on Thursday that the unidentified man, 29, was arrested on Tuesday in O’Bek Ka’am commune in the capital’s Sen Sok district.

He said police confiscated more than 3,254g of crystal methamphetamine (ice), 346g of Ketamine and over 253g of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), all amounting to nearly 4kg.

“If we believe there are other accomplices, we will consult the prosecutor and ask to continue detaining the suspect to assist our investigation.

“Our probe is ongoing because the suspect can’t produce the drugs all by himself. So we must investigate to find out whom he bought or received the drugs from,” Virith said.

However, he declined to comment when asked when the suspect will be sent to court.

The National Police Facebook page said anti-drug authorities on Thursday arrested 60 people including three women in 39 cases during a nationwide crackdown. Forty of them were drug trafficking suspects and the others were users.

Police confiscated over 3,286g of crystal methamphetamine (ice), 69 small packages of unspecified drugs and over 200g of WY yaba tablets.

The clampdown was carried out in the capital, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Mondulkiri, Ratanakkiri, Siem Reap and Svay Rieng province.
