-

THAI-listed energy firm B Grimm Power Pcl (BGrim) is expected to soon finalise the process of procuring liquefied natural gas (LNG), its president Preeyanart Soontornwata said.

The company’s subsidiary B Grimm LNG Ltd was granted a licence to ship up to 650,000 tonnes of LNG per year by the Energy Regulatory Commission. The LNG will be supplied to the company’s power plants from 2022.

She added that several global LNG suppliers have offered to sell to B Grimm. She also said that it is too soon to say which supplier the company will purchase LNG from, and that it is awaiting analysis from a consultation company.

Preeyanart said that B Grimm also hopes to clinch three merger and acquisition deals this year with a total production capacity of 300MW. Two of the three projects are based in Thailand.

BGrim is confident that it will meet the target of producing 5,000MW in 2022, of which 3,547MW is already under purchase agreements. In September, it said it had set aside more than 38.5 billion baht ($1.26 billion) for the projects.

In November, BGrim subsidiary B Grimm Solar Power 1 Co Ltd completed the acquisition of Cambodia’s Ray

Power Supply Co Ltd for a total value of $300,000.

Ray Power Supply was granted the right to develop a ground-mounted solar farm project in Banteay Meanchey province’s Sisophon town, pursuant to the power purchase agreement for 30MW with Electricite du Cambodge (EdC) with the term of 20 years, The Post reported.

Last month, B Grimm Solar Power 1 said the project was 30 per cent complete, with the commercial operation scheduled to begin in October.

In September, BGrim said it is currently developing renewable energy in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, South Korea and the Philippines through 17 co-generation plants, 24 solar photovoltaic farms, three hydro-power plants, one industrial wasteto-energy project, and a diesel generation with a total capacity of 2,896MW.

The company is looking to expand investment in Malaysia, Cambodia, South Korea, and the Philippines by focusing on green energy such as wind, solar, and gas.

In Vietnam, the company aims to expand the capacit y of its sola r energ y production of Dau Tieng 1 and Dau Tieng 2 with Dau Tieng 3. The Dau Tieng 3 plant will have production capacit y of 120MW.
