Kingdom’s teachers receive ICT training

THE Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has organised a teacher training course on informatio­n technology which will be available to 1,461 staff members in the education sector. A group of educationa­l profession­als will also travel to South Korea to receive training.

At the opening ceremony for the programme on Wednesday at the Prey Veng Teacher Training Centre, Minister Hang Chuon Naron said: “From now on, technology is a part of the academic programme f or teacher training institutes.

“The Ministry of Education will promote quality remote education using electronic systems during the Covid-19 pandemic, as the country heads towards a digital economy.”

Ministry spokesman Ros Soveacha said on Thursday that the ministry would focus on upgrading qualificat­ions and improving living standards for teachers who participat­e in e-learning as stated in the education sector’s strategic plan for 2019-2023.

He said the ministry is participat­ing in the government’s pl a n t o develop human resources and develop a digital economy to raise the average income to a high level in 2030 and be a developed country in 2050.

He said teacher training institutio­ns play an important role in promoting teachers’ quality and digital skills.

Soveacha said the recruitmen­t and training of effective teachers is essential to reforming the training system and also a mechanism to secure teachers’ status as noble members of society.

He said the ministry sent 43 managers from teacher training institutio­ns and 240 teachers specialisi­ng in informatio­n and communicat­ions technology to receive training in Busan City, South Korea.

Inside Cambodia, the ministry arranged a training course for 1,178 education workers.
