Covid measures tightened
MINISTRIES are reminding staff to practice serious measures to prevent Covid-19 in the wake of a visit by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on November 3.
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, on its part, announced on November 10 that employees must increase attention and effectiveness in preventing the spread of Covid-19, especially in factories producing textiles, footwear, travel goods and bags.
The ministry advised all factories to assign two people from management to form occupational health and safety commissions at workplaces to regularly advise workers about sanitation and health measures.
It advised all factories to take note and prepare alcohol and hand sanitisers at the entrances of factories, and to use thermometers to measure the temperatures of all workers. If there is suspicion, they have to report it to the Ministry of Health immediately.
“Call 115 if any workers have a temperature of more than 37.5 degree Celsius and have symptoms like coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, have a travel history to places affected by Covid-19 or have been in contact with sick animals 14 days before symptoms appear,” it said.
The ministry expects factory owners, workers, professional organisations and the public to take part in following the guidelines properly and effectively.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport advised its officers to work as normal, but they have to observe their health conditions daily.
At the same time, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on November 10 that its staff will fill out digital reports about their conditions daily.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has also advised officials at national-level units to work online from home and suspend checking attendance.
Minister Hang Chuon Naron said t he ministr y a llows its of ficia ls to pass documents through an online net work.
“They have to maintain hygiene by washing their hands with soap or alcohol regularly. All entrances and exits must have thermometers and people must wear masks regularly.
Those who do not follow the guidelines must not be allowed to enter the workplace,” he said.
Hen Phearak, a respiratory doctor with over 20 years experience, said the prevention measures introduced by the government and the health ministry was warranted following the Hungarian delegation visit.
“These measures are correct when we are confronting [Covid-19]. We were not careful enough when the Covid-19 situation got better before the visit. We cannot forget it although it has not spread to the community yet,” he said.
Phearak said he was not concerned about community transmission if the government and the people strictly follow the health ministry guidelines.
