-

JAPAN Tobacco International (JTI) in Cambodia was recognised on Monday for its HR best practices as a Global Top Employer, becoming the first and so far only company in Cambodia to have received certification from the Top Employers Institute.

After independently reviewing its practices for seven months, the prestigious Netherlands-based global HR experts certified that

JTI Cambodia gives its employees the best support, going beyond the market standard.

It found JTI Cambodia placed its employees as a top priority in its business strategy, providing them with excellent working conditions, fair pay and very competitive benefits, as well as meaningful

learning and development opportunities.

“This Top Employer certification is confirmation that JTI Cambodia consistently provides our people with the opportunities to develop their careers under the best conditions in order to perform to their highest abilities while being themselves,” said Katerina Lapshynova, people and culture director at JTI Cambodia.

She said JTI employees enjoy flexible working, with the company not tracking their in-and-out hours, fair pay and very competitive benefits, such as private medical plans for them and their dependents (spouses and children).

The safety of employees is also paramount, with the company providing quality training and special monthly incentives for those in the field to ensure there are zero injuries.

Through its Elevate Academy courses, personal and leadership coaching is provided with global certified professional coaching and world class e-learning platforms such Harvard Business School, edX and LinkedIn Learning.

Diversity is encouraged, with inclusion giving employees full freedom to be themselves, while all staff members enjoy equitable family leave, with those (mother, father and same sex parents) having a child receiving up to 20 weeks of leave with full pay, she added.

Lapshynova said that during the

Covid-19 outbreak, the company has provided all employees with protective equipment such as face masks, hand sanitiser and face shields. A special fund was also set up for employees suffering a financial emergency, while a knowledge and information programme shared developments regarding the outbreak.

While most businesses have been badly affected by the pandemic, JTI Cambodia has kept all its employees in jobs and retained all benefits, including the year-end bonus, to support their family during these difficult times.

Commenting on what it means to work for a Global Top Employer, Ven Sovann, regional sales manager, and a local winner of the Corporate Inspire Awards 2020, JTI Cambodia, said: “For me, JTI sincerely cares about its employees. The company believes in us and promotes the values of equality, fairness and diversity.

“As a Top Employer, I expect

JTI to continue being transparent, while listening to its employees and providing fair career opportunities. I am proud of working here and being part of something big.”

Established 30 years ago, the Top Employers Institute has certified 1,691 organisations in some 120 countries.

Certified Top Employers positively impact the lives of more than seven million employees globally.
