NH Bank, NongHyup Finance CSR support AFESIP Cambodia

NongHyup Bank and NongHyup Finance (Cambodia) Plc last Thursday jointly donated food, school items and money to AFESIP Cambodia, an NGO focusing on the welfare of victimised women and girls across the Kingdom.

The donations – part of the financial institutions’ CSR projects for this year – were given to girls residing at the AFESIP centre in Village 24, Prey Sar commune, in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district.

Two tonnes of rice, 200 boxes of instant noodles, 200 boxes of canned fish, 50kg of sugar, 50kg of salt, 50 bottles of cooking oil, 50 boxes of soy sauce and 50 boxes of fish sauce were handed out at a special ceremony.

Five computers and $5,000, along with 10,000 face masks and 600 litres of hand sanitiser, were also donated.

Each of the 140 girls in the organisation’s care received five books, five pens, five pencils, an eraser, a set of geometry rulers, a bag and a NongHyup Finance water bottle.

AFESIP Cambodia president Somaly Mam and staff thanked NongHyup Bank and NongHyup Finance for the generous contributions to support the organisation, which is facing challenges from the Covid-19 pandemic. AFESIP-Cambodia was established in 1996.

NongHyup Finance is a subsidiary of NongHyup Bank, one of the largest commercial banks in South Korea.

NongHyub Finance has operations in Phnom Penh and 11 other provinces – Kampot, Kep, Preah Sihanouk, Takeo, Kampong Speu, Kandal, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng and Kampong Cham.

It offers housing loans, micro loans, small business loans and small and medium enterprise loans, as well as water and sanitation loans to improve living standards in communities.
