-

CANOPY Sands Development Co Ltd top management and Sihanoukville Provincial Governor HE Kuoch Chamroeun led the groundbreaking ceremony for the 934ha BAY OF LIGHTS project in Ream, Sihanoukville, on December 20.

The groundbreaking ceremony is being hailed as marking a new renaissance for Sihanoukville as the developer builds a bustling coastal city closely resembling the elite cities of neighbouring regions.

BAY OF LIGHTS is to comprise nine districts – Gateway, Riverside, Golf, CBD, Marina, Downtown East, Downtown West, South and Seagate.

Managing Director Ian Tan said construction for the 50ha Startup Phase, a key catalyst for the 934ha BAY OF LIGHTS city, is expected to be completed by 2030.

This will commence with the entertainment hub – featuring a beach club, 60 lavish cabin lodges set along the coastline, a go-kart track, reverse bungee jump and paintball – which is to be completed in the first half of 2023.

“Sihanoukville, being Cambodia’s main coastal region, will play a key role in continuing the Kingdom’s fast growth over the next decade.

“Being a relatively untapped market in the ASEAN region – one of the largest markets in the world – we are confident BAY OF LIGHTS

will accelerate this trajectory further,” said Ian Tan.

Canopy Sands Development also hailed its strategic collaboration with Prince Real Estate Group as the company’s secondary development partner, leveraging the seasoned developer’s experience in delivering high-end commercial developments.

“With this 934ha project taking off so rapidly, we envisage providing job opportunities and training young Cambodian professionals, and in turn inject enormous

momentum into the urban development and national economy of Cambodia, specifically Preah Sihanouk province,” Edward Lee, CEO of Prince Real Estate Group, said at the ceremony.

Come 2023, the one-stop entertainment hub offering an exciting range of activities is to open at

BAY OF LIGHTS.

The international-standard beach club will feature a pool bar, DJ booth, cabanas and al-fresco dining, with a lawn operated by one

of Indochina’s renowned entertainment operators, Sailing Club, featuring exclusive beach parties and regional DJs all year long.

Nestled along the stunning

Ream coastline, the 60 lavish yet affordable cabin lodges will bring the beach communities alive, with an unmissable nightlife scene, and are set to open in the second quarter of 2023.

At a thrilling height of 32 metres, the reverse bungee jump – targeted to be operational in the second

quarter of 2023 –will be the first coastal bungee in Cambodia.

The international-standard

1.3km go-kart track, which will host 21-lap karting championship races, is also expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2023.

The paintball park will feature modern war games, suitable for team-building events and friendly matchups.
