THE Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has signed an agreement with the Finnish Red Cross (FRC) on a programme to promote humanitarian and community health activities in four provinces.

The agreement was signed by CRC secretary-general Pum Chantinie and FRC Officer for Asia Sari Autio on January 30, at the CRC headquarters in Phnom Penh.

Chantinie and the leaders of the CRC’s four branches in Banteay Meanchey, Pailin, Tbong Khmum and Kandal provinces also signed an agreement to hand over motorbikes and office equipment to the programme. She noted that the FRC has been supporting their Cambodian counterparts since 1990.

The programme focuses on three areas, namely epidemic preparedness and response; disaster management; and enhancing community participation by integrating with branch or sub-branch development in target provinces to build digital technology capabilities.

“This is also an opportunity to enhance cooperation with partners to achieve the success of the CRC’s 2030 Strategy,” she said.

Autio also thanked the CRC for allowing the FRC team to continue working and collaborating with them in promoting humanitarian and community health activities as well as sharing work experiences and good strategic planning together to work smoothly for the people in the target communities.

Representatives of the CRC’s four branches thanked the FRC for providing material support in their work for humanitarian operations in their communities in this digital age as they commit to strengthening and improving their work to help local people in accordance with the wishes of the Finnish organisation.
