16 Chinese ambulances donated to health ministry

SIXTEEN ambulances as well as medical supplies and equipment were donated by China to Cambodia’s Ministry of Health on March 27, in a handover ceremony presided over by minister Mam Bun Heng and Chinese ambassador Wang Wentian.

Bun Heng said that with the strong commitment made between the top leaders of their two countries, all manner of friendship and cooperatio­n has been steadily enhanced to reach the highest level.

“While the whole world suffered from the Covid-19 pandemic, China provided emergency assistance to prevent and respond to Covid-19 outbreaks in Cambodia,” he said.

He continued that China also sent experts to provide technical assistance to Cambodian health officials and provided medical equipment, assistance and facilitate­d the timely purchase of more than 28 million doses of Covid19

vaccines by the Kingdom.

“Today marks a new era of national pride for the people and government of China as they provide 16 ambulances and some medical equipment to further strengthen the capacity of health facilities to meet the needs of healthcare services more efficientl­y and safely,” he offered.

The press release noted that the ambulances and medical equipment will be distribute­d to three national hospitals and four health department­s in the capital and provinces.

Wang said at the ceremony that 2023 marks the 65th anniversar­y of the establishm­ent of China- Cambodia diplomatic relations and is also the anniversar­y year for China-Cambodia friendship, which continues unabated.

“We are pleased to cooperate with Cambodia to implement the consensus set by the two leaders to continue and promote the traditiona­l friendship between China and Cambodia, and to deepen the cooperatio­n between the two countries,” he said.
