The Peak Mall announces winner of Uniform Design Competition
The Peak Mall – Phnom Penh’s luxury shopping destination – has announced the winner of its competition to find a talented young designer to create its uniforms.
The Peak Uniform Design Competition, which began on August 1 and ended on November 17, was open to young fashion designers residing in Cambodia aged 14-24 years of age.
After receiving more than 50 applicants, the competition narrowed down to three finalists, who then had the task of bringing their designs to life.
A group of international experts carefully evaluated the uniform designs and announced Wella Jaden, a 23-year-old fashion design student at Limkokwing University, as the winner.
The panel of judges was made up of Pierre Balsan, Managing Director of Bluebell Cambodia; Allen Dodgson Tan, Director of WB Bluebell (Cambodia) Co, Ltd; Emmanuelle Mace, General Manager of Luxury Business Group Cambodia, and Thiri Zeya, Senior Project Manager at The Peak Mall.
The final round took place on November 17, 2023 at Palais de La Poste, a fine dining restaurant located in a French colonial building set in the heart of the capital.
Wella Jaden, as winner of the competition, received $2,000 as the grand prize and will have his design used for The Peak Mall’s official uniforms.
The competition was held to find designs for the uniforms of the VIP room manager, concierges and janitors.
“We are thrilled to have hosted this competition and provided a platform for young designers to showcase their talents and creativity.
“We look forward to working further with the winner to create the perfect uniforms for our employees,” said Pierre Balsan.
The Peak Uniform Design Competition also rewarded the two runners-up with $500 prizes.
The three finalists were:
Winner: Wella Jaden, 23-year-old student at Limkokwing University majoring in fashion design;
Runner-Up: Keo Kanha, 20-year-old student at the Royal University of Fine Art majoring in Architecture;
Runner-Up: Lay Yokmeas, 16-year-old student at Phsar Daem Thkov High School.
