Ministry upgrade provincial healthcare
EFFORTS have been undertaken to enhance the quality of healthcare services at eight medical centres in Siem Reap province. The initiative to improve services will also be extended to other institutions across 13 provinces, according to the Ministry of Health.
The facilities involved in the initiative were the Chanlas Dai, Rongkor, Srei Snam, Srei Moung, Samrong, Popel, Kien Sangke and Sangvoeuy health centres, according to Or Vandine, secretary of state at the ministry, who announced on November 20.
“These activities aim to augment the quality of services, focusing on various aspects such as promoting the Primary Health Care Booster Implementation Framework (PHCBIF) in public and community medical instituations, improving quality, ensuring patient safety and enabling online patient
registration,” she stated.
In addition to elevating the quality of services, the activities also prioritise improvements in environmental infrastructure in and around facilities, fostering a more hospitable atmosphere for patient care services, enhancing human resource management,
managing medicines and medical equipment and bolstering technical capacity and the use of digital systems.
She emphasised the importance of upholding medical professional ethics and providing 24/7 healthcare services.
Vandine noted that ministry officials will continue to offer support and strengthen the implementation of quality service standards at institutions in 13 other provinces: Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Tbong Khmum, Kratie, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, Ratanakkiri, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey.
“The visits to support and strengthen health centres in these provinces involve reviewing and discussing plans, roles and responsibilities and reviewing the centres’ information checklist,” she added.
According to the ministry, officials have already improved services at medical institutions in three provinces: Siem Reap (eight), Ratanakiri (nine) and Oddar Meanchey (nine). Additionally, the ministry has enhanced services at provincial referral hospitals in Tbong Khmum, Preah Vihear, Kampot and Kep.
