JCA announce April opening for PP office
JAPAN-Cambodia Association (JCA) President Fumiaki Takahashi affirmed Japan’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Cambodia for increased tourism and bilateral investments.
The assurance follows discussions with Minister of Interior Sar Sokha and Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth last week.
During these meetings, Takahashi mentioned the JCA’s efforts to encourage Japanese small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to invest in Cambodia, aiming to enhance collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions. Additionally, plans include the opening of a JCA office in Cambodia in April 2024 to facilitate relations between Japanese companies in Cambodia and members in Japan.
“Our office is set to open in 2024, playing a central role in facilitating and providing convenience for communication between Japanese SMEs and investment partners in Cambodia,” he said.
Vandeth proposed that Japanese technology companies explore establishing cooperation for digital skills training with Cambodian universities. Alternatively, these companies could establish training schools, enabling students to acquire technology skills for employment in Japan, contributing to Cambodia’s development.
Sokha thanked the JCA for actively supporting and enhancing cooperation, particularly encouraging Japanese investors to contribute to socioeconomic development in Cambodia. He extended full support for the office opening and thanked Japanese investors for their interest in agriculture, tourism and cosmetics in the nation.
During a last week meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and Fumiaki Takahashi, the Japanese side stated JCA’s encouragement for SMEs to invest in Cambodia, focusing on sectors like communications, technical and vocational training, vehicular repairs and nursing.
Manet welcomed and supported increased Japanese investments in Cambodia, stating the appeal of the Law on Investment and incentive policies, fostering an optimistic investment climate in Cambodia.
