Upon receiving the award, an elated Chef Nak expressed her joy and pride to The Post, stating, “We made it! Best of the best cookbook in the world 2023!!!”.

“I never imagined winning prizes when I started this project three years ago. Working with a few friends who value cuisine, art and culture was my goal. Being recognised by the Gourmand Awards is far above my expectations. It’s a reminder that even the simple joy of food deserves to be celebrated,” said Sot Serey, designer and illustrator for the project.

La Mo, a photographer involved in the book’s production, expressed pride in the team’s achievements.

“As an artist and photographer,

I take immense pride in our team. It brings me great pleasure to share the remarkable success of the book with our nation. The endeavour has truly been a labour of love,” he said.

“SAOY” offers more than recipes; it’s a vibrant celebration of Cambodian heritage, encapsulating culinary knowledge passed down through generations. Much of its content is interpreted from the recipes of Princess Norodom Rasmi Sobbhana between 1950 and 1970, offering readers a sensory journey into the heart of Khmer cuisine.

“This is another exciting moment for Cambodian cuisine and culture. A talented and driven group of artists dedicated to showcasing the depth of Cambodian cultural heritage created this stunning work of art,” said Charley Todd, board president of Cambodian Living Arts.
