Chief Bank Cambodia celebrated its 10th anniversary on December 9 at a glittering event at the PH Grand Hall 2 in Peng Huot Boeng Snor as it revealed ambitious plans for the future.

The Kingdom’s leading financial institution – where ethical banking has built success – also unveiled a fresh logo and announced the opening of its new headquarters in 2024.

The event was presided over by Heng Bomakara, Deputy Director General of Banking Supervision at the National Bank of Cambodia, Ye Haiya, representative of the Chief Bank board of directors, and Chief Bank CEO Dr Soeung Morarith.

“Since launching in the Cambodia in 2013, the Chief Bank journey has been marked by impressive resilience in the face of global and local economic fluctuations.

“This resilience is reflected in the growth of total deposits, which now exceed $160 million, while total assets amount to more than $240 million as of November this year.

“We have built a foundation of trust with our customers through a dedication to professional ethics, integrity, prudence and transparency – and these are not just principles but the pillars that have supported our decade-long journey,” said Dr Morarith.

To mark a decade of operations in Cambodia, Chief Bank unveiled a fresh new logo, which signifies a bold declaration of its digital-first banking vision.

“Chief Bank’s new emblem is a visual testament to our commitment to innovation and our readiness to cater to the digital era.

“It is not just a change in design, but a signal to the market that we are evolving with the changing needs of our clients, particularly the dynamic young generation poised to lead Cambodia’s future,” Dr Morarith added.

The Chief Bank CEO stressed that the digital transformation extends beyond aesthetics, with plans to launch in the coming months a series of innovative initiatives – including a brand-new mobile banking app and an advanced online banking platform.

“We are confident that our new logo and digital initiatives – all designed to provide customers with a seamless and convenient banking experience – will empower us to serve our customers better and drive our business growth in the years to come,” Dr Morarith said. And a striking expression of the bank’s ambitious plans for the future is to be the opening in 2024 of its new headquarters in the 158m tall, 40storey Chief Tower.

“Chief Bank’s headquarters will relocate next year to Chief Tower, which is strategically located along Monivong Boulevard, on the corner of Street 93, in Phnom Penh’s upmarket BKK1 district.

“We are also currently conducting feasibility studies into establishing branches in Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Cham and Sihanoukville.

“To bring our world-rated banking services closer to our valued customers throughout Cambodia, we will continue looking into the opening of new branches in Phnom Penh and across the Kingdom,” said Dr Morarith.

Ye Haiya, the representative of the board of directors, used the occasion to thank the National Bank of Cambodia and Chief Bank’s “talented and professional staff”.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Heng Bomakara and his team at the National Bank of Cambodia, for without their assistance and guidance, today’s event would not have been possible

“Thanks also to all our diligent, talented and professional staff, who like our bank are young and energetic. Always willing to learn and ready to evolve, we are so incredibly pleased to see them grow together with our bank.

“This tenth anniversary marks an incredible milestone, and as we look towards the next decade, we are confident that Chief Bank Cambodia will continue to play a vital role in contributing to the wellbeing of our communities, our people and our nation,” said Ye Haiya.
