TYDA extend decade-long medical tour
IN A community health initiative, Pich Chanmony, the wife of Prime Minister Hun Manet and vice-chair of the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA), led a team to provide free medical examinations and treatment to over 3,500 individuals in Kampot province’s Chum Kiri district on January 28.
The event addressed various health concerns, including general diseases, oral health, joint problems and conditions affecting the eyes, heart and lungs.
“Former Prime Minister Hun Sen, his wife Bun Rany and Prime Minister Hun Manet are dedicated to the people’s wellbeing, providing free medical services to ensure their health and welfare,” Chanmony said at the event.
She also noted TYDA’s altruistic mission, extending compassionate medical services to individuals across provinces, communities, organisations, orphanages and schools for over a decade.
Those seeking medical attention
expressed joy and gratitude to the team for offering complimentary examinations and treatment to nearly every household in their community.
Sok Ratha, afflicted with stomach and intestinal problems, said that he was happy the TYDA team provided free medical treatment to the community.
“I am delighted to see the Prime Minister and [Chanmony] prioritising the wellbeing of the people, bringing us doctors for free check-ups and treatment,” he said, adding that he could hardly afford
to receive treatment at hospital.
He expressed joy at the volunteer group providing treatment. He extended gratitude for their care towards the people.
Chanmony reiterated TYDA’s primary goal of supporting national institutions, particularly the Ministry of Health, in delivering free health services without discrimination based on race, colour or political affiliation.
TYDA also contributes to the government’s efforts to alleviate poverty by delivering health services to underserved populations in remote areas.
