THE National Employment Agency (NEA) enrolled nearly 40,000 job-seekers in 2023, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.

Katta Orn, spokesperson for the ministry, noted on January 31 that over the course of the year, the agency accomplished considerable achievements in securing jobs for Cambodians.

He stated that the ministry registered 30,897 job-seekers and referred the individuals to 29,590 employers, resulting in 6,547 successful employments.

“The NEA organised numerous programmes to provide information about job opportunities. These included job fairs and workshops for students at technical, vocational training institutions and universities,” he added.

Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasised that human capital is a top priority, acting as a catalyst for the country’s economy to reach upper-middleincome status by 2030 and high-income by 2050, in a January 30 social media post.

The post noted that, with a focus on this long-term vision, the previous government under former Prime Minister Hun Sen had launched the training programme for approximately 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable households at state institutions.

The effort, which began on November 14, 2023 were offered free of tuition and included a monthly allowance.

Koat Samean, an IT student from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), shared his experience of securing a job at AEON Group after attending a job fair organised by the NEA.

“At the fair, I was interviewed and subsequently offered the job. I recommend NEA to students who are still seeking employment. They offer quick service and a wide range of job options,” he added.
