Star powers Siem Reap blood drive, draws over 350 donors, nets award
ACOLLABORATIVE initiative brought together 350 individuals who generously donated blood in Siem Reap province over the weekend.
Co-organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Siem Reap Provincial Administration, Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA), Ny Monineath Blood Foundation (NMN), Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), and National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC), the event, spearheaded by well-known actress Ny Monineath, aimed to inspire humanitarian engagement, fostering a culture of love and care for those with medical needs.
Themed “My Blood for You, Your Blood for Me,” the event aimed to foster joint charity efforts, contributing to social welfare and public service.
Monks, provincial department leaders, armed forces, companies, employers, employees, artists,
students and the general public came together for this collaborative charity event.
During a live broadcast of the event, NBTC president Sok Po noted that donating blood voluntarily and free of charge is a life-saving gesture, driven by genuine kindness.
“A blood donation not only reveals our health status but also provides insights into the presence of diseases, including hepatitis and HIV. Additionally, this knowledge can contribute to improving heart health, weight management and stroke prevention. The
procedure was conducted confidentially and offered free of charge by the medical team,” he said.
Ny Monineath, president of the Ny Monineath Blood Foundation, said that the event was a vital component of a campaign conducted at tourist destinations in Siem Reap province, making it an integral part of community engagement.
The goal is to inspire active participation in humanitarian activities, conveying intention and embodying the spirit of sharing love, encouraging individuals to assist those with medical needs.
“The blood donation event aims to foster a positive societal culture, where blood becomes a unifying force connecting the lives of all individuals. Cambodians can voluntarily donate blood as an act of giving love and care, ultimately saving lives within our community,” she said.
“In essence, blood donation plays a vital role in saving lives by ensuring timely delivery to patients, particularly in mitigating the risk of anaemia,” she said.
Yun Linne Siem Reap deputy governor said that holding this event in Siem Reap province, the historical territory, aims to inspire participation, reflecting good intentions and the noble spirit of sharing love while also saving lives.
