THE Aids Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Cambodia will host a celebration of International Condom Day 2024 on February 16, with the goal of promoting condom use among young people.

AHF Cambodia provided a free blood test for HIV and distributed free condoms in Kandal province’s Takhmao town, just outside the capital, on February 13 and will hold a celebration of International Condom Day at Build Bright University in Battambang province on February 16, to encourage people to start or continue using condoms regularly.

According to an AHF press release,

International Condom Day is marked annually on February 13. It serves as an opportunity for people around the world to receive free condoms, as well as important information on proper condom use and other sexual health issues.

The AHF also reminded people that condoms can save lives and remain the best choice for preventing HIV/ AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies.

Chhim Sarath, chief of the AHF’s Asia Bureau, explained that using condoms with a partner is an expression of love and safety and shows responsibility for the partner’s health.

“We call for a supply of affordable condoms to be available anywhere in the world,” he added.

AHF Cambodia country programme manager Houy Sikheng said that prevention is the key to sexual health, so on International Condom Day, people should enjoy using condoms with their partner for safety.

“We wish everybody peace and safety on this special day! Please spread the word about the importance of the protection that condoms provide. They can keep you and your partner healthy,” she added.

The AHF is a US-based non-profit which provides affordable healthcare to more than 1.9 million clients in 46 countries around the world.
