LORD OF THE RECOVERY RINGS

7P has an alternate recovery tool that provides toughness and reliability when you need it most.

The first question many wheelers ask when they see the 7P Recovery Ring is, “what the heck is it?” “Why do I need one?” or “what is the benefit of having one?”

The 7P Recovery Ring is a lighter, simpler, and tougher alternative to traditional snatch blocks or pulleys for use with synthetic line. The rings are made of light, yet super strong 7076 aluminum alloy with a T6 temper - the same alloy used in the aerospace industry, which is known for its superior high strength-to-weight ratio.

7P offers two different models. The smaller Red Ring is for ATVs and UTVs with its maximum breaking strength (MBS) of 50kN (11,240 lbs), the larger Blue Ring is for standard 4x4s and has a whopping MBS of 180kN (40,465lbs).

Both can be purchased individually or with 7P’s heavy-duty soft shackles, which are also impressive. They utilize quality Dyneema fibres (that are ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene), and feature a double knot-design to make them stronger than the single knots used in most soft shackles.

The primary benefits of the 7P Recovery Ring (and the reason why I decided to add one of these to my recovery kit) are to maintain the integrity of the synthetic line and maximize storage. When synthetic line is used with a traditional pulley, the line can get compromised if it jumps off of the pulley and gets pinched between the pulley and the pulley frame. Plus, its light weight and basic shape makes the ring very easy to store. Unlike traditional pulleys or snatch blocks, there are no moving parts and the ring requires little more than a quick wipe with a rag or a spray of a hose to clean.

The 7P Recovery Ring has a simple but highly functional design. Its tough body consists of a large, smooth groove to effortlessly feed the line, and more importantly, it can conveniently be used with most soft shackles.

So, when it comes to recovery gear, these rings for 4x4 and overland enthusiasts are a great addition to any kit. You’ll know with confidence that they not only have the capabilities to get your rig out of a jam, but they have the reliability and toughness to do it all year.
