Jonathan Kenneth Porter, 28, of Greenwood, has been fined for having the care or control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Porter pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 5. Judge Alan Tufts fined Porter $1,300 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition.
Porter committed the offence in South Greenwood on Nov. 15. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Porter gave breathalyser readings of 100 and 100.
William John Lowry, 19, of Oromocto, New Brunswick, has also been fined for impaired driving.
Lowry pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 5. Tufts fined Lowry $1,300 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition.
Lowry committed the offence in Greenwich on Nov. 2, when Lowry gave breathalyser readings of 90 and 90.
Conditional discharge for stealing from store
Nicholas Ryan Dill, 22, of Greenwood, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for stealing property valued at less than $5,000 from Foodland.
Dill pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 5. Judge Alan Tufts handed Dill a conditional discharge with nine months of probation, including 40 hours of community service work, and fined him $ 100.

Rispa Ann Albright, 37, of Weymouth, has been fined and sentenced to probation for stealing property valued at less than $ 5,000 from the Atlantic Superstore.
Albright pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 5. Judge Alan Tufts fined Albright $130 and sentenced her to six months of probation.
Albright committed Kingston on July 23.

Suspended sentence for property damage, uttering threat
Kevin Daniel Hernandez, 54, of Gaspereau, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for willfully damaging a person’s property to a value exceeding $5,000 and for uttering a threat to destroy personal property.
Hernandez elected provincial court and pleaded guilty to the charges on Jan. 13. Judge Claudine MacDonald handed Hernandez a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation and fined him $400 in victim surcharges.
Hernandez committed the offences in Gaspereau on Dec. 29, 2014.
Breathalyser offence
Fabrice Musabe, 24, of Wolfville, has been fined for operating a motor vehicle while her blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Musabe changed her plea to guilty on Jan. 14. Judge Claudine MacDonald fined her $1,000 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against her.
Musabe committed the offence in New Minas on March 16, 2013. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Musabe gave breathalyser readings of 120 and 120.
Fined for stealing from liquor store
Sherry Marie Renouf, 38, of Kentville, has been fined for two counts of stealing property valued at less than $5,000 from the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.
Renouf pleaded guilty to the two charges on Dec. 8 and the matters were adjourned to Jan. 14 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Judge Alan Tufts fined Renouf $450. Renouf committed the offences in Kentville on Sept. 23 and Oct. 8, 2014.
Suspended sentence, probation for assault
Ross Sandy Forrest, 41, of Wolfville, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.
Forrest changed his plea to guilty prior to a scheduled trial on Jan. 15. Judge Claudine MacDonald handed Forrest a suspended sentence with 12 months of probation and fined him $100.
Forrest committed the Kentville on May 18, 2014.

in POTTER, Lenly Roscoe “Ross” - 95, of Wolfville, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was born in Meadowville, Annapolis County, on October 21, 1919, second child of the late Manning Rodrick and Mary Elizabeth (Potter) Potter. He graduated from the Provincial Teachers’ College, Truro, in 1941, and, after nine years of teaching, he attended Acadia University where he received a B.A. (1952), M.A. (English) (1953) and B.Ed. Ross was on staff at Horton District High School when it opened in 1959; he taught there for ten years and then served as an administrator for an additional 13 years. He retired in 1982, having served for 39 years in the education field, a career marked by noteworthy dedication to the profession and to the welfare of his students and fellow teachers. His gifts and interests were varied. As a genealogist and history buff, he was particularly knowledgeable about the Potter Family and the Coldwell-BishopDuncanson clan, and was a valued member of the Board of Directors of the Bishop Family Association. His book, Gaspereau, A River Runs Through It (2007) has been received with popular appeal. In the summer of 2000, he was the prime mover in obtaining a monument in the Gaspereau Cemetery to the memory of Perez Coldwell (“the man from Gaspereau”). For several years Ross was the artistic consultant and “unregistered architect” for the builders’ consortium known as Knights’ Bridge. He was a member of the Wolfville Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities including clerk and deacon. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Teachers’ Union, and an alumnus of Acadia Divinity College. He is survived by his much-loved daughter, Shelley Elizabeth (Dr. Martin Fleckenstein); grandchildren, Benjamin Ross (his namesake) and Norah Clare; step-son, Gregory ( Terry) Kavanagh (Emma, Graydon, Adam and Sydney) of Toronto; step-daughter, Dale Kavanagh ( Thomas Kirchhoff and daughter, Melissa) of Iserlohn, Germany; sister, Elizabeth Viola (the late Dr. Thomas Rogers), Shelburne; several nieces and nephews and dozens of cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Winifred Emeno, Pinehurst (1957) and brother, Leland Winfield, Berwick (1998). Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the Wolfville Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Barry Morrison, Rev. Timothy McFarland and Rev. Sterling Gosman officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. Memorial donations may be made to the Nictaux Cemetery, the Court House Museum, Kentville, or the Wolfville Baptist Church. MAGEE, George Henry – 90, of Somerset, died peacefully on January 12, 2015 at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on August 2, 1924 he was the son of the late George and Nina (Illsley) Magee of Somerset. George was predeceased by his brother Allan (Hettie), Ontario; sisters Elizabeth (Ross) MacDonald, Ontario; Eunice (Richard) Sircom, Nova Scotia, and is survived by his sister Jean ( William) Jackson, British Columbia, and several nieces and nephews. George operated the family farm in Somerset all his life. A quiet, modest man, he was involved in the community, as a member of the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association, Trustee of the Somerset Community Hall, a member of the Berwick United Church (Choir), Senior Life Elder of the church and served many roles within the church. The family is especially indebted to George’s longtime friend Erdeena Brannon of Berwick, who served as companion and caregiver during his later years. As per George’s request, Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at the Berwick United Church at a later date. Burial in the Berwick Cemetery following the service. LARSEN ( Timmins), Althea Jean “Allie Jean”- age 74, of Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax, on Sunday, January 18, 2015. Born in Berwick, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Timmins and Jean (Banks) Timmins. Althea was an active member in provincial and municipal politics, and she was the founder of sports for the physically disabled in N.S. As well she was as the founder of the Wee Care development center in Halifax, N.S and an active member of the Halifax Regional Cerebral Palsy Association. Althea was a member of the Birch Cove Baptist Church and a former member of the Waterville Baptist Church. Althea is survived by her husband Mel Larsen; daughter, Patti Lynne Walker, Brights Grove Ont.; son, Darryl Melvin (Melanie) Larsen, Fort Smith, NWT; granddaughters, Brooke and Trinity; grandson, Eric; sister-in-law, Lynette Dillon, Mira. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by daughter, Karen Larsen; brother, James Rupert (Betty Marie) Timmins; nephew, Reginald James Timmins; brother-in-law, Earl Dillon. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation. The Memorial Service for Althea was held at 11 a.m., Thursday January 22, in Birch Cove Baptist Church, 50 Donaldson Ave., Halifax. Rev.
