SIRT investigat­ion underway

WESTON - Two people were sent to different hospitals late in the evening on July 24 after a single-vehicle crash in Weston.

Initially, King County RCMP responded to complaints about a car being driven erraticall­y near Aylesford. They located the vehicle on Highway 221 and attempted a traffic stop.

The car failed to stop and was it pursued by police for a short period of time. Sometime later, the RCMP received a report of a car that had crashed into a field in Weston. The vehicle was the same car that had previously been pursued.

Two persons were found injured. One was taken to the Valley Regional Hospital for treatment and observatio­n. The other was taken to the QEII hospital in Halifax with a broken arm and serious back injuries.

As a result of the injuries, the matter was referred to the provincial Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT), who have assumed responsibi­lity for the investigat­ion. Anyone who may have witnessed any aspect of the incident is asked to call SiRT at 902-424-2010, or toll free 1-855-450-2010.
