Value Village getting ready to open in New Minas
NEW MINAS - Value Village, a thrift superstore chain with more than 330 locations across North America, will open a new store in New Minas on Aug. 11.
The store will celebrate a continued partnership with the Clothesline program and the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8: 45 a. m. on the morning of the grand opening. The ceremony is open to the public, said spokesperson Olivia Tinsley, and will be attended by Value Village management, representatives from Clothes- line, CDA and New Minas village leadership.
“We’ve been working incredibly hard to prepare the store for opening day and can’t wait to share all we have to offer with the New Minas community,” said new store manager Jeff Strang.
“We look forward to providing our customers with unbelievable deals, but we also take great pride in supporting our non- profit partners and protecting the environment. Just about everybody likes to save money, support non-profits, and go green, and we make it easy to do all three.”
Value Village was founded on the principle of supporting local communities, and has em- braced that value by partnering with non-profits since 1954. The new store’s partnership with Clothesline and the CDA means Value Village pays to support people with diabetes when area residents donate their goods to the CDA at the store’s on-site Community Donation Centre or have a donation picked up at home by the Clothesline program.
“The program funding we receive though our partnership with Value Village allows us to support those affected by diabetes in the New Minas area,” said Trevor Edwards, a spokesman for the Clothesline program.
“Not everybody is able to donate their time or money, but by visiting the store’s Community Donation Centre or scheduling a free home pick up with our team; the simple act of donating reusable goods becomes an easy way to support our community.”
The New Minas store, located at 9256 Commercial St., will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
