Eleven candidates seeking election to Middleton council

Voters in the Town of Middleton will have a few options to consider in October.

Nine candidates are vying for one of six councillor positions. Incumbents Melinda den Haan, Gail Smith and Darren Andrew Boates are hoping to return for another term, while Coun. Marc Britney and Mayor Calvin Eddy are not reoffering.

Giving current councillor­s some com- petition, Michael Fairn, Mark MacFadyen, Clayton MacMurtry, Gary Marshall, Brad Reid and Phillip Townsend have also committed to running for town councillor.

The mayoral contest will be a two-way race between current deputy mayor Dan Smith and former mayor Sylvester Atkinson.

Advance voting opens at 8 a.m. Oct. 6, and remains open until the ordinary polling day wraps at 7 p.m. Oct. 15.
