Three-game win in the semi-finals

- KENTVILLE

The Truro Bearcats completed a three-game sweep of the Kentville Wildcats in the semi-finals of the N.S. Senior Baseball League on Sept. 15.

The Bearcats came into last Thursday night’s play with a 2-1 lead in the top of the third after the game was suspended last Wednesday night due to heavy rain.

Wildcats coach Ian Mosher paid tribute to Chapman, who helped to resurrect the Truro team. He went on to say that he was not as disappointed as he might have been by the end of the season.

“Last year we were at the bottom at the end of the season. This year were at the top at the end of the season and we fizzled out in the playoffs.”

“We had success in the regular season,” Mosher added, saying, “We were all disappointed, but not disheartened because we were in virtual obscurity last year.”

The coach felt his six rookies and the big Wildcats roster jelled into a competitive team during the regular season.

“Only three (members) had had experience in the playoffs previously,” he said. “The future is so bright I’ve got to wear shades.”
