The new bridge will measure 45 feet by 140 feet, Whynot said. He added it’s anticipated the Town of Kentville will contribute about $ 85,000 toward the build, which is estimated to cost more than $5 million.
The provincial government is responsible for the bridge replacement project.
“We expect the construction to begin in the next few weeks, with the entire project taking between six to eight months to complete,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal spokesperson Brian Taylor.
Dexter Construction was awarded the contract for the $5.4-million venture, Taylor said.
