Berwick continues its welcoming ways

There were four tables of 45s in play at the Rebekah Hall on Oct. 8. Prize winners were: top two, Rupert Reeves and Grace Lutz; next two, Sheilah Wiles and Janet DeMille; door prize, Rupert Reeves and the 50/ 50 went to Clarence Robinson.

Thirteen family members met at the home of Glenn and Heather Lonergan on Oct. 9 for a lovely potluck Thanksgivi­ng supper. It is always a pleasure to have Fern and Beulah Barkhouse from East Dalhousie.

At the South Berwick Community Centre, October 11, there were five tables of 45s in play. Prizewinne­rs were first, Janet DeMille; second, Gertie Smith; third, Shirley Rodgers; fourth, Al Sipley; 50/50, Andrea Hale and the door prize went to Gertie Smith.

On Oct. 12 Hilltop Haven hosted a musical Halloween party. The guests, visitors and entertaine­rs were well dressed for Halloween. Music was provided by Frances Lowe ( guitar) and Barb Walker ( violin) of Aylesford. Pauline Eisner accompanie­d on piano. Barb Walker also did a Halloween reading. Refreshmen­ts were served and enjoyed by all.

Pauline Pieterse- Remeijer of Doesburg, Holland recently spent two weeks as a guest of Bud and Lillian Ewing at their cottage in Harbourvil­le. When the Ewings were at the 55th celebratio­n of the Liberation of the Netherland­s with the Canadian ceterans in 2000, Pauline was their hostess. She has visited with the Ewings several times over the years.

An evening of song in support of the new library will take place Oct. 20 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. at the Berwick United Church on 240 Commercial St. It will feature members of The North Mountain chorus with Radovan Marinkovic and introducin­g The Grace Notes featuring Ann-Marie Mathieu and Shelly Wallace on piano. Tickets are $10 at the library, Wilsons’ Pharmasave or at the door.

The Rebekahs will be holding a potato scallop, baked beans and ham supper with apple pie on Nov. 5 starting at 5 p.m. Takeouts will be available. Please call ahead. For reservatio­ns for supper call Marjorie at 902-538-8230 or Julie at 902538-7762.
