Clowns, weapons, stolen cars keep cops hopping

Annapolis District RCMP had a busy week with numerous clown sightings, breakand-enters, a gun in a car, a weapon in a business and a stolen car that was later found burned.

Plus, RCMP conducted a number of checkpoint­s.

In total, officers responded to 108 calls for service from Oct. 3 to Oct. 10. Among these were 18 911-related calls, one false alarm, six break-andenters, 11 mischief, 16 motorvehic­le violations, three thefts of vehicles, one theft of a truck, one theft from a vehicle, three traffic collisions, one traffic hazard, one uttering threats, and two well-being checks. The following are a few of the calls for service:

- Oct. 3 at 2:49 p.m., West Dalhousie. Police received complaint of an abandoned vehicle. A patrol was made and registered ownership informatio­n obtained and the owner was contacted. Ar- rangements were made to remove vehicle.

- Oct. 3 at 6:02 p.m., Granville Ferry. Police received a 911 call about a theft of a cellphone from a vehicle. Police later learned that the cellphone was found by the owner and had not been stolen.

- Oct. 3 at 6:32 p.m., Middleton. Police received a complaint of a person with a weapon in a public building. Police attended and arrested one person. The investigat­ion continues.

- Oct. 4 at 9:39 a.m., Falkland Ridge. Police were contacted to locate a missing person. The person was later safely located in the Halifax area.

- Oct. 4 at 9:51 a.m., Lawrenceto­wn. Police responded to a report of a stolen car. The car was later found burned. The incident is under investigat­ion.

- Oct. 4 at 1:57 p.m., Middleton. Police received a complaint of littering on Gates Mountain Road. A patrol was made and an investigat­ion started. There are no suspects at this time.
