Another meet, another achievement

-

Sunday February 26th saw 18 of Wolfville Triton youngest swimmers heading to Greenwood for the fourth meet of their season.

These young athletes have come a long way since they started with the club and the goal for many of them is to gain their medals, which indicates the steps through the program.

The meets are designed to develop the young swimmers in a way that teaches them the strokes and skills required for competitive swimming and each meet allows the swimmer to swim four to five events, depending where they are in the progression. Once they have met their goal of achieving their gold medal they can move into the World of Age group swimming, which is an exciting program with more opportunities, meanwhile the Nova Tech programs nurtures the young athletes as they develop.

Each swimmer who makes a best time receives a ribbon to commemorate that achievement; just under 80 best time ribbons were gained on Feb. 26! Bronze medals were also achieved by Payton Mills (10) and Robert Kennedy (13) while Simon Dornieden (11) was the recipient of gold medal, opening the door for him to move into the world of the Age Group swimmer.

Congratulations to these three young men and to all who achieved their ribbons. The next meet for these young athletes will be in mid April in Clare.
