KPS chasing coyotes and shutting down a meth lab

The Kentville Police Service (KPS) have been busy with wily coyotes and shutting down a meth lab on Mee Road.

Two large coyotes were reported behind a man’s residence near Braeside Drive. KPS attended and chased them back in to the woods. Officers also advised neighbours of the coyotes in the vicinity.

Charges of producing methamphet­amine were laid after police and fire officials responded to an odour complaint in the basement of the building housing a local convenienc­e store near NSCC Kingstec.

A man reported he was threatened by another male, who was intoxicate­d and had a knife. Officers arrested the aggressive male, he was checked out by EHS and then placed in custody until sober. The matter is still under investigat­ion.

A lost wallet was reported in the downtown. If located, the KPS has contact informatio­n.

After a noise complaint came in, a woman was informed the Kentville noise bylaw doesn’t come into effect until 11 p.m. She was told to call again if it continued.

KPS checked out a possible domestic in an apartment building, but there were no signs of struggle or distress.

A fraud call from a woman who’d been asked to provide her credit card number was reported for informatio­n purposes.

An off duty KPS officer noted footprints around vehicles in his driveway. Due to the snow he could tell the suspect had gone through the back yard to other properties. No suspect was located. ***

A stolen cellphone and a stolen license plate were reported. Both thefts are being investigat­ed.

There was a collision on Academy and School Streets due to snow-covered roads. Damage was minor.

A woman called to report a strange vehicle in her driveway for several days. After some checks it was determined it belonged to a family friend.

A woman got home from work and discovered her house was broken into. Later charges were laid for two break-ins.

KPS observed a vehicle occupied by two individual­s parked near a dead end. The officer noted the smell of alcohol and the driver agreed to a breath test. He failed and impairment charges were laid.

A minor collision occurred in a downtown parking lot when one vehicle backed into another. Registered owners exchanged informatio­n.

A total of nine males were transporte­d by KPS to

Inn from the Cold over a one-week period.
