Lacrosse coaches, officials clinics coming up

Valley Thunder Lacrosse is hosting a set of officials and coaches clinics in Kingston.

The clinics are in partnershi­p with Lacrosse Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Lacrosse Officials Associatio­n. The coaches clinic is free and will be April 8, and the officials clinic (registrati­on $55, levels 1 and 2) will be April 9, both at the Credit Union Centre.

As of this year, all box lacrosse officials will be required to wear a Csa-approved helmet while officiatin­g. All officials who registered for a clinic before 11:59 p.m., March 24, were entered into a draw to win a new, free helmet. The winner will be announced the week of March 27.

Further clinics are being held in different parts of the province: April 9 or 23, Halifax, levels 1 and 2; April 12 or 13, Halifax, levels 3 to 5; April 29, Truro, levels 1 and 2; and April 30, Halifax, levels 3 to 5. All sessions will be facilitate­d by Scott Mcmullen. All Halifax clinic locations will take place at the Sport Nova Scotia office, 5516 Spring Garden Road, Halifax.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a lacrosse official for the upcoming season, register at lacrossens. ca. All returning officials must recertify at their respective level. Please note: the minimum age to attend the clinic is 14.
