Evergreen Theatre launches crowd funding campaign
The Evergreen Theatre in Margaretsville has launched a crowd funding campaign to provide the last dollars needed to complete a long awaited addition.
After 16 years of hosting a wide variety of the performing arts, co-ordinator David O’leary says the group is excited to upgrade the theatre to offer proper washrooms, dressing rooms and other amenities.
The old church structure is receiving major funding of $100,125 from the federal government through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. An additional $50,000 has come from the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, O’leary said.
Recently, a well was successfully installed on the property and major construction is due to start in May. The bold design for the new addition will include washrooms, a dressing room and a modest lobby. The main entrance will be off the new front deck.
The theatre is fundraising through Chuffed.org, a socially conscious organization that hands over every dollar that is collected for the cause. The board hope to raise $24,000 in 90 days.
All donations are tax deductible. The address of the campaign: https://chuffed.org/project/evergreen-theatre-addition
