Fundy Cinema will screen Don’t Blink: Robert Frank on May 17: A revelatory portrait of groundbrea­king photograph­er and filmmaker Robert Frank most celebrated for his seminal photo book The Americans - following him from his early life in Switzerlan­d to his eventual quest for solitude in a remote corner of Nova Scotia. Wed, May 17: 7 pm.

The society will screen Being 17 on May 21: Andre Téchiné directs this tender teenage love story of gay awakening about two high school boys in rural France whose initial physical rivalry gives way to surprising­ly deep and passionate emotion. Sunday, May 21: 7 p.m.

Art outdoors in Wolfville

The Plein Air Annapolis Valley art group will meet at Wolfville’s Reservoir Park on Thursday, May 18 at 10 a.m.

A popular, mutually-supportive critique is available for those interested to close the event. The paint out is open to artists and art lovers of all levels.

Holding Patterns with Rachel Ryan

Annapolis Royal artist Rachel Ryan is taking part in an exhibition called Holding Patterns at the

Mary E. Black Gallery in Halifax May 19 - July 19.

Ryan works in textiles painting fabric and stitching together a variety of techniques, blurring the boundaries between painting, drawing and quilting.

The opening is Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m.

Anne and Gilbert on stage

The 15th St. Joseph’s Stage Prophets production this spring is sure to be a family favourite for fans for L.M. Montgomery.

There will be six performanc­es taking place from May 18 - 21 with shows each evening at 7 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday there will be matinees at 1:30 pm. at the Festival Theatre, Wolfville.

Get ready for some comedy

Wolfville’s Dead Sheep Scrolls will present A Night of Comedy at the Al Whittle Theatre on Saturday, May 20

The sketch comedy extravagan­za with Ross Chapman, Jamie Loughead, Erin Gaudet and Alan Slipp starts at 8 p.m. The Dead Sheep Scrolls will present a special double-feature comedy show, featuring a revamped performanc­e of “Pigeonhol’d: NOT The Musical”, as well as the superb stand-up stylings of comedian Jay Malone.

Tickets are $20. They are available from members or at the door.
