Lequille man to serve house arrest for assault
Robert John Cromwell, 53, of Lequille, Annapolis County, has been handed a conditional sentence with house arrest for committing an assault.
Cromwell was found guilty on Feb. 21 and the matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. On June 7, Judge Jean Whalen handed Cromwell a 90-day conditional sentence order with house arrest for the entire time. Cromwell was also sentenced to one year of probation and was fined $200 in victim surcharges. The court imposed a 10-year firearm prohibition against Cromwell and granted a DNA order.
Cromwell committed the offence in Canning between Nov. 1 and 30, 2009. Cromwell is also charged with committing a sexual assault in Canning on Oct. 5, 2011 and with two counts of uttering death threats in Canning on Feb. 21, 2016. Cromwell is scheduled to stand trial on the sexual assault charge on July 5 and is scheduled to stand trial on the two counts of uttering threats on Sept. 20. These three charges have not been proven in court.
East Torbrook Road man sentenced for stealing from legion
An East Torbrook Road man has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for stealing property valued at less than $5,000 from the Royal Canadian Legion in Greenwood.
Shawn Connell, 22, pleaded guilty to the charge on June 6. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed him a suspended sentence with 12 months of reporting probation. Connell was also ordered to make a $200 charitable donation to the legion.
Connell committed the offence on Nov. 8, 2016.
Conditional discharge for assault
Michelle Mary Bonvie, 26, of Waterville, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Bonvie pleaded guilty to the charge on June 6. She was handed a conditional discharge with 12 months of probation. Bonvie committed the offence in Waterville on July 18, 2016.
Conditional discharge for assault
Joseph William Gregoire, 58, of Greenwood, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Gregoire pleaded guilty to the charge in March and the matter was adjourned to June 7 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Judge Alan Tufts handed Gregoire a conditional discharge with nine months of probation and fined him $100 in victim surcharges.
Gregoire committed the offence in Greenwood between Jan. 27 and Feb. 5.
