A beautiful summer wedding was held in the gardens of Glenn and Heather Lonergan on June 24 as their son, Adam Lonergan, took Maryam Rahmati as his bride.

The father of the bride, Mohammed Rahmati, walked her down the aisle. The bride looked spectacular in her long form-fitting white dress with a trailing train. The couple made their vows under an arbour and signed the certificate at a table to the side which was adorned with a bouquet of flowers.

Following the introduction of the newly married couple, they met each family under another arbour, where they presented them with a small gift (a Persian tradition) and had

their picture taken with them.

On to the gigantic tent, where the reception was held. Outside the tent was a wishing well where cards of good wishes were dropped. On the other side was a decorated table with a guest book. Inside the tent were nine big tables, beautifully set with white linen tablecloths accented by purple napkins. The centerpieces of each table contained bouquets of beautiful peonies and other mixed flowers, atop a round slice of cedar directly from the tree and setting on large crocheted doilies and accented by small candles.

Earl Russell was the emcee for the evening. The bride’s father and mother, Mohammed and Susan, spoke first and the interpreter for her father was her uncle. The father and mother of the groom, Glenn and Heather, were up next with Heather speaking on their behalf. Adam’s siblings, Julie and Jillian, also paid tribute.

A buffet-style supper was served. The wedding cake was decorated in purple pansies. Persian DJS attended from Halifax and first played some of their music and then additional

Canadian variety. Both Maryam and sister-in-law, Shirin displayed their graceful style of dancing. Shirin and her husband did a knife dance with the wedding cake knife. The dance floor was full of wedding guests helping the happy couple celebrate.

Adam and Maryam Lonergan reside in Edmonton. It was a lovely wedding for a lovely couple.
