4-H youth boast of a successful year
Western Kings 4-H Club June report
School is out for summer and so is the Western Kings 4-H Club.
At the last monthly meeting Bailey Justason shared photos of the Kings County 4-H Apple Blossom Children’s parade entry. Members won second place in the group category. Good job, everyone!

Tyler Maceachern gave an update on fundraising efforts by the members participating in the Alberta exchange. They are currently enjoying their adventure and looking forward to hosting the Alberta group later in July.

Sydney Milne shared information about senior and junior tours. Senior tour will be overnight camping at the Blomidon Provincial Park on Aug. 10. The junior tour date is to be announced but will take place at the Shubenacadie Animal Reserve. Watch your mailbox for more information from the 4-H office.
*** Congratulations to graduating members Thalia Tobin, Sydney Milne, Amber Dort and Cassidy Coombs. They each received a club bursary to help them further their education.

Kings County Joint Achievement Days will be held Aug. 3 and 4 at the Apple Dome in Berwick. We will, once again, host an ice cream booth. Members of the public are invited to check out the wide variety of both livestock and lifeskills projects on display during that time.

Ira Lee Freeman has been awarded the Daniel Arnold Memorial Scholarship to Camp Rankin for the intermediate camp and Bailey Justason was recognized as Kings County’s top seller during the chocolate bar campaign. Congratulations to both!

Following adjournment of the meeting, members took part in a roadside cleanup around Somerset School and then enjoyed a pizza party.
