Car crashes, speeding, break-ins top calls for Annapolis RCMP
Annapolis District RCMP responded to 128 calls for service from July 3 to July 10 with more than a quarter of them 911-related.
In fact, one woman who allegedly called 911 repeatedly was arrested, jailed, and issued a hefty fine.
Police also dealt with an apparent arson, seven break-ins, a fraud report, 11 Mental Health Act calls, eight mischief calls, and 20 speeding violations. They also responded to four thefts, three people reported missing, two thefts of gas, 12 traffic collisions, and one uttering threats.
Following are a few of the calls for service:

-- July 3 at 1:02 a.m. at Middleton. Police received a complaint of kids drinking and breaking into the Middleton pool grounds. Police attended the area but the kids were gone.
-- July 3 at 11:24 a.m. at Upper Granville. Police pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Highway 1. The driver was charged and if found guilty will pay a fine of $237.50. Police issued 19 additional tickets for speeding throughout the week in various locations in the county.
-- July 3 at 2:05 p.m. at Middleton. Police received a complaint of a break-and-enter into a residence which occurred within the last month. There was an attempt to enter through the garage door but entry was not gained. The caller was advised of some tips to secure their property.
-- July 3 at 6:10 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a 911 hangup call. RCMP members went to the scene and learned the call was made by mistake. There was no emergency. Police received five other similar calls through the week.
-- July 4 at 6:40 p.m. at Phinney’s Cove. Police charged a 56-year-old woman after repeated false calls to 911. She was lodged in cells and upon her release was issued with a ticket for making false 911 calls. If found guilty she could pay a fine of $697.50.
-- July 4 at 7:46 p.m. at Middleton. Police received a complaint of mischief. Someone ordered $32 worth of pizza, provided a name and an address for delivery but when they arrived at the address there was no one there who had ordered pizza. It appeared to be a prank and is under investigation. There are no suspects at this time.
-- July 5 at 10:25 a.m. at Middleton. Police received a report from a local lumberyard that somebody may have attempted to steal wood. Lumber had been moved to a location where it could have been taken after store hours. Police are investigating.
-- July 6 at 12:33 a.m. at Lawrencetopwn. Police conducted a checkstop on Main Street. Twelve cars were checked and there were no infractions. There were four other checkstops through the week in various locations.
-- July 6 at 5:14 p.m. at Wilmot. Police were called to a report of a break-and-enter into a residence that occurred over night. The caller reported that someone had entered his house and took money. The incident is under investigation.
-- July 7 at 12:50 a.m. at Upper Clements. Police received a complaint of a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles on Highway 1. One of the drivers, and elderly man, drove his vehicle into a parked vehicle causing extensive damage to both. There were no injuries or signs of impairment. The vehicles had to be towed.
-- July 7 at 11:43 a.m. at Lawrencetown. Police received a complaint of damage to the fence at the Lawrencetown pool. The fence had been cut. The community had placed barbed wire around the top to deter climbers, but this time they cut through the fence. There was approximately $400 in damages. Police attended and entered into an investigation. This is similar to an incident at the Middleton pool. Police consider this a serious situation because of the potential for injury and possible drowning.
-- July 7 at 12:46 p.m. at Brooklyn. Police received a complaint of a theft of a truck. The caller reported that it was stolen sometime overnight. Missing is a 2000 red Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Police went to the scene and have started an investigation.
-- July 8 at 8:58 a.m. at Annapolis Royal. Police responded to a twovehicle crash on the causeway. People were trapped in one of the vehicles. EHS and Annapolis Royal fire attended. RCMP attended and a traffic analyst was brought in.
-- July 8 at 4:41 p.m. at Springfield. Police responded to a call of arson. The complainant had found a 2012 Jeep Wrangler with the interior burnt out. This file is under investigation. Police will attempt to find out the owner and follow up.
-- July 8 at 10:57 p.m. at Lawrencetown. Police received a 911 report of an intoxicated man at the exhibition grounds at the Redneck Rodeo. A 31-year-old man refused to leave the beer tent and was acting aggressively towards security. Police arrested the man. He was lodged in cells overnight and will receive a ticket for being intoxicated in a public place.
-- July 9 at 12:40 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of theft of gas at a service station. The vehicle was identified as a blue Ford Focus. The driver pumped $20 worth of gas and left heading west towards Digby. Police have entered into an investigation to determine the identity of the driver.
-- July 9 at 12:50 a.m. at Lawrencetown. Police were called to a report of fighting among 20 or so people at the exhibition grounds. Police were not able to locate anyone fighting. A number of vehicles were checked in that area and there were no infractions.
-- July 10 at 3:17 p.m. at Clementsvale. Police were advised of a break-and-enter which occurred at a vacant residence. It happened sometime between Sept. 1 and now. Numerous items were stolen. Police have entered into an investigation. Serial numbers and lost items have been entered into CIPC.
-- July 10 at 4:38 p.m. at Lequille. Police received a complaint of a gas-and-go. The caller reported a black Hyundai left without paying for $50 worth of gas. Police went to the scene to gather information on the driver. Police east and west of Lequille were provided with the information. The file is under investigation.
-- July 10 at 5:55 p.m. at Lawrencetown. Police received a complaint of theft of an outboard motor. The complainant reported that the motor was stolen from his boat that was for sale and on display near the road. Police have started an investigation. Neighbourhood inquiries have been completed.
-- July 10 at 11:36 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a breach of a court order by the offender monitoring company. Police went to the residence where the offender is supposed to be. There was no answer at the door. Police will notify probation of their findings and the offender may be charged at a later date.
