Conditiona­l discharge for resisting police

Clayton Derek Jacobs, 31, of Cambridge, Kings County, has been handed a conditiona­l discharge with probation for resisting a police officer engaged in the execution of her duty.

Jacobs changed his plea to guilty in June and the matter was adjourned to Oct. 3 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Jacobs was handed a conditiona­l discharge with 12 months of probation and was fined $100 in victim surcharges.

Jacobs committed the offence in Cambridge on Sept. 5, 2016. Charges of having care or control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit; having care or control of a motor vehicle while his ability to operate was impaired by alcohol or a drug and assaulting a police officer engaged in the execution of her duty were dismissed on Oct. 3.

Fine, probation for assault

Jason Maurice Spicer, 37, of Kingston, has been fined and sentenced to probation for committing an assault.

Spicer changed his plea to guilty on Oct. 3. He was fined a total of $325 and was sentenced to nine months of probation.

Spicer committed the offence in Kingston on Nov. 6, 2016. Charges of committing mischief by damaging a motor vehicle to a value not exceeding $5,000 and uttering a threat to cause bodily harm were dismissed on Oct. 3.
