Library opportunit­ies are plentiful in Berwick this fall

Congratula­tions are in order! Fourteen-year- old Andrew Pineo, of Waterville, placed 18th out of 694 runners in the Maritime Race weekend in Halifax. Pineo was running in the 5k, along with his dad Dana, who placed 39th. They also participat­ed in the Terry Fox Run in Berwick.

At the South Berwick Community Hall, on Sept. 30, a card party took place with the following people as prizewinne­rs: first, Larry Caldwell; second, George Smith; third, Marilyn Baptie; fourth, Andrea Hale and 50/50 and door prize went to Jim Trask, who donated his winnings back to the hall.

The Christ Church Thursday luncheons are done for the season. Thank you to all the people who so loyally attend them. We will see you in April, if not somewhere else before.

The Berwick Library, located at 236 Commercial St., has a lot to offer, including:

- Oct. 12 - Smoke Free Kings invites you for tea and a chat. Why should I care? Tobacco in the -21st century. Come anytime between 4 and 5:30 p.m. and refreshmen­ts will be served. The annual general meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome.

- Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon is all about relaxing in the Kings Mutual Living Room with the weekend paper and a cup of coffee or tea.

- Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m. offers game time. Bring a game from home or choose from the library collection. This event is for ages 55 and older.

- Oct. 21 - L.p.suzanne Atkinson will be reading from her latest novel, Segue House Connection: regarding Hayworth Book III.
