A promising show
Blue Rodeo, Tim Hicks to headline Canaan Mountain Music Fest
With a lineup boasting double headliners Blue Rodeo and Tim Hicks, the Canaan Mountain Music Festival is sure to cater to the tastes of country music fans of all ages.
And that’s music to festival spokeman Darryl Landry’s ears.
“The whole show is really good,” said Landry.
The Ottawa-based River Town Saints come with the promise of a dynamic live performance, with their repertoire including such fan-favourite singles as “A Little Goes A Long Way” and “Cherry Bomb.”
Nova Scotia’s own acclaimed Canadian country-folk crooner Jimmy Rankin (“Followed Her Around”, “Cool Car”) has also signed on to serenade the crowd along with Fredericton, N.B. native Tristan Horncastle (“She Brings The Beer”, “Recreation Land”).
The promoters hosted a fullformat country music festival in the location in 2016 as what Landry described as a “pilot project” that helped them get a sense of how the Annapolis Valley measures up as a venue for country music festivals.
“It’s gone really well. It’s a very promising area. I think the Valley is the prime spot in Nova Scotia to host an event like this,” he said.
“Prince Edward Island has been able to pull off a world-class event on an annual basis… it would be really good to see if that is possible (here).”
Landry is excited to see how bringing in the likes of the legendary Blue Rodeo (“Try”, “Bad Timing”) and “Forever Rebels” singer Hicks will set the stage for the festivals to come.
Tickets for the festival, slated to take place Aug. 11 at 1005 Canaan Mountain Road, can be purchased at https://www.canaanmountainmusicfest.com/. Adult passes are selling for $69.75 and youth passes can be purchased for $39.75.
