Annapolis Riverfest ready for family fun day

- BY LAWRENCE POWELL LAWRENCE.POWELL@ANNAPOLISSPECTATOR.CA

When Clean Annapolis River Project’s fourth Annapolis River Festival rolls around on July 14, there won’t be any shortage of things to do as crowds pay tribute the historic waterway.

The celebration of the environmental, historical, cultural, and recreational values of the Annapolis River runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes everything from thrills of the dragon boat races to the new warm and fuzzy petting farm for the kids.

As usual, the emphasis is on family fun with lots of free things to do on the water and in the park.

Besides free admission, there will be a bouncy tent, touch tank, petting farm, educational displays, and more, plus lots of live music, boat races, food and river tours.

Besides the dragon boat races, with 17 teams this year, there are other on-the-water challenges. Festival goers can sign up for the canoe and kayak sprint race, and the canoe obstacle race. Both are fun to do and as much fun to watch.

Join the HMCS Acadia Sea Cadets and an interpretive guide on a one-hour tour of the Annapolis River featuring the area’s natural and cultural heritage. It’s free, but you might want to buy a CARP membership or make a small donation.

You have to register for the guided river tours, so contact

the CARP office to reserve. (902)532-7533 or carp@annapolisriver.ca. Sail times are 1, 2, and 4:30 p.m.
