Indoor cycling comes to Berwick

Cycleflex geared to accommodate all fitness levels

- BY ANNIE CORBIN SPECIAL TO THE REGISTER BERWICK, N.S.

One of the fastest growing exercise programs has comes to the new Berwick Fillmore Family fitness center.

Cycleflex is a new exercise pro- gram that brings the outdoor bike experience indoors. The new bikes are designed and constructed to reproduce the mechanics and gears of outdoor bikes, enabling participants to use the gears to accommodate their fitness levels. You get the feeling of cycling on a flat terrain, gradual and steep hills.

All participants are bike fitted and measured to their bikes while recording their measurements for future use when attending their classes. Bike fit includes seat and handlebar adjustments which gives a rider proper knee positioning for a safe ride.

Classes are structured for various levels of fitness and all sizes and shapes. During the cycle participants are guided through bike techniques, proper form, and monitoring their intensity through rate of perceived exertion, giving the participant their own cardio workout in a comfortable, non-intimidating environment.

Cycleflex classes are on Tuesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.

Generally, a class will last an hour with 30 to 45 minutes of cycling and the first five to seven minutes being a warm-up and the last five to seven minutes a cool down.

The last 15 minutes of the Cycleflex class includes flexibility and relaxation exercises that complement this class.
