Maharashtra govt leases Film City land to Subhash Ghai’s film school

-

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is back from a 10-day meditation retreat at Dharamsala and he is feeling very fresh and energetic. He announced his arrival on Twitter saying, “Returning back from 10 day Vipassana course. Feeling v fresh n energetic”. Reportedly, he hasn’t reached the Capital yet and might be travelling by road because Delhi-dharamsala flights have been suspended.looks like one of the first things he did upon re-entering civilisation was tweet about his return. He was actually taking the meditation session in Dharamkot, 12km from Dharamsala where he had no access to TV, newspapers, Internet or any other mode of communication. He was reportedly received by local party leaders today at the Dharamshala Circuit

House. Maharashtra government on Tuesday leased a 5.5-acre government-owned land, originally meant to be used for educational training and research, in Mumbai’s Film City to Bollywood film producer Subhash Ghai’s film school, the Whistling Woods International.

The move to allot the land to the institute has been justified by the state’s cultural affairs department, which administers the land. It submitted a report from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), dated February 22, 2018, that had stated that Ghai’s school “eminently qualifies as a higher and technical institute (HTI)”, to the state cabinet, which approved the allotment Tuesday.

The move, however, stirred an intense debate in the state’s political circles, especially since it was the BJP itself that, while still in Opposition, had questioned the original deal between Ghai’s institute and then Congress-led government in the state for the same land parcel. Thugs of Hindostan, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Llyod Owen, will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu to reach a wider audience upon its release.

Yash Raj Films on Wednesday released a video of Amitabh and Aamir announcing the film’s release in Tamil and Telugu.

“We are a nation of film lovers, and films have often been a cultural glue that binds us all in a way that transcends geography. We hope that in Thugs of Hindostan, the audience will find a story that’s universal in appeal and unique in its presentation. If there’s one thing we Indians know as a family is to share, and it is in this spirit that we’d like to share our film with our audiences across India. This Diwali let the Thugs entertain you all over Hindostan,” Acharya said in a statement. Rohan Malhotra, VP – Distribution, Yash Raj Films, said, “Thugs of Hindostan will be the biggest ever release a Bollywood title has ever had in the history of Indian cinema. We want to give the film a release scale that justifies its humongous hype.” With three consecutive Netflix projects and one Bollywood blockbuster to her credit Radhika Apte is on a roll, but the actor says she does not let the success get to her and likes to live on the “edge”. The actor started the year with R Balki’s comedy-drama “Padman” and featured in Lust Stories, Sacred Games and Ghoul, positioning her as streaming giant’s India favourite.

“The content that’s coming my way is great, but something really needs to challenge and throw me off, completely shatter me. I like to live that. It has its downside too, but I like to live on the edge.

“The year has been great but there’s much more I want to do, which will give me the kind of satisfaction that I’ve been looking for. I don’t think this is that year,” Radhika told PTI.
