An education beyond words
Alifelong reader with a desire to write, Rawia Inaim says she’s always wanted to write for a living.
“I’ve always loved literature. I knew I wanted to major in English to develop my writing skills but initially I was afraid to be creative.”
Through encouragement from an instructor at KPU, Inaim began to push herself, challenging narratives, and embracing creativity in her essays, which led to her first A+ paper.
“It helped me become a more engaged student, and a more creative thinker” she says, adding, “There’s a thriving community at KPU that you can access if you reach out.”
Now a KPU alumna, working in the university’s Learning Centre, Inaim has her sights set on graduate school, already receiving several offers thanks to the advice and support she received during her degree program.
“My educational experience was completely customizable and personalized. I worked with an advisor and finished my undergraduate program in three years instead of four. I’ve had so many opportunities to gain experience in my field and make invaluable connections and it’s all contributed to my success as a student.” Home to more than 20 unique programs and disciplines, the Faculty of Arts at KPU offers a range of programs including English, creative writing, journalism, psychology, Indigenous community justice, and more.
