How you can market your business effectively using SEO for the least possible cost

- Bob Milliken

I say again.

If you are serious about finding leads, getting new customers and making sales, then SEO is your holy grail. Search Engine Optimization should be right on the top of your marketing initiatives. Of course, marketing isn’t just a single silver bullet (don’t we wish), but many bullets all working in concert to maximize your campaigns. We use our 7 step SEO builder to attract the search bots and get premium search rankings. Over the next few weeks I am going to elaborate on each of these builder steps.

My article last week spoke of optimizing your website, the importance of using Google My Business, and using metrics to know what’s working and what’s not.

This week I am going to focus on the keywords that will drive traffic to your website and show you how to structure those keywords to maximize the effectiveness of your SEO campaigns. To start with, maximize your SEO efforts by localizing everything to the markets you serve. This means you’ll have to stay on top of changes in store locations, changes to business hours, contact information, etc., and updating your website as these changes occur. Next - define your keywords. A best practice here is to research the keywords your competitors are using so that you can differentiate yourself and earn the click. Use a keyword planning tool (such as Google Keyword Planner) to start the process, next look at using relevant long tail keywords (the list at the bottom of a google search), and then optimize them to your local community with location data. For example.

Primary business keywords

• SEO Marketing Surrey BC

• SEO Marketing Richmond BC

• SEO Marketing Langley BC

Secondary Keyword targets could be

• SEO strategy template Surrey BC (etc.)

• SEO action plan template Surrey BC (etc.) • SEO analysis Surrey BC (etc.)

Takeaway

Effective local marketing is a well-orchestrated mix of many things, including search engine optimization. Local

business owners know digital marketing is critical. Unfortunately, through lack of commitment, consistency or the lack of time to be creative, many fail to get their marketing off the ground. Managing your keywords is a simple task, easy enough for most of us, so let’s get started.

Whether your website is brand-new or has been on-line for years, I recommend taking a serious look at your keywords and adjusting them to your “local community”. Not to worry, this is not a complicated undertaking and if you do make changes to the keywords, remember to also update all of the relevant content. Having said that, I recognize setting up and maintaining SEO is not everyone’s most popular activity and yes, it can get complex. In the time it takes you to get started, we can quick start your SEO and get quality leads flowing through your funnel.
