Walls & Floors 1 Clay Appliqué
Patricia Urquiola uses an innovative silkscreening method to create tone-on-tone patterns for Mutina’s new Cover line. A clay and micro-grit mixture is applied to the surface of homogeneous porcelain stoneware, and serves as a base for varied patterns with a handmade look and feel. The unglazed slabs are available in three standard sizes, up to 120 by 240 centimetres. mutina.it
2 Southwest Craft
Fondovalle’s Res Art is sold in seven muted shades, including Pottery (shown), each with a matte concretelook finish reminiscent of desert clay. These porcelain tiles are available in 6.5- or 10-millimetre-thick versions, and sizes up to 160 by 320 centimetres. The thinner iteration is self-levelling. fondovalle.it
3 Attractive Surface
Kablan’s reconfigurable tile system combines durable Italian porcelain surfaces with a magnetic base. Created for commercial spaces and projects where expedited installation and repairs are an asset, the tiles require no uncoupling membrane, mortar adhesive or grout – a fact that makes the wood looks all the more convincing. thetileshop.ca
4 Visual Dimension
Depth and shadow are the leitmotifs behind the playful Shades pattern, part of Casalgrande Padana’s Granitoker collection. Chromatic tones articulate the appearance of a faceted plane along the edge of each tile. The porcelain stoneware is available in three colourways and four sizes, up to 90 by 180 centimetres. casalgrandepadana.com
