In December, Azure began compiling its lists of the past decade’s most influential interiors, striking residences, landmark structures, standout product designs and defining works of Canadian architecture to mark the closing of the 2010s. These lists — endlessly pored over in editorial meetings — became our “Best of the Decade” online series, which sought to capture the significant shifts in technology, culture and more as played out through objects, spaces and places across the world. The posts generated a plethora of responses, including from such luminaries as Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto (featured in our round-up of best houses) and engineering firm Arup. “This is a near-perfect list that says a lot about what is happening coast to coast in Canadian design,” tweeted Jennifer Keesmaat, Toronto’s former chief planner, of “The 10 Projects that Defined a Decade of Canadian Architecture.” Was there an outstanding project or product from the past decade that we missed?
