The Art of Style

Elegant Homes combines artistry with superb elegance–and it works!

nfused with artistry, premium finishes, and superb elegance, this Aspen Estates home is a visual revelation. Singular in its enhancements, it hosts traditional elements with a level of craftsmanship that is inspired.

Nestled on the ridge in Aspen Heights with views overlooking the Rocky Mountains, this two-story walkout offers a full-length rear deck. “Even from the walkout we still enjoy our amazing, unobstructed views. The sunsets are spectacular,” express the homeowners, who desired a contemporary decor with elegance, clean lines, and a classic facade.

Hosting a highly desirable blend of architectural styles in the community, they opted for arches and steep roof pitches, admitting that ultimately it was about the view. “We liked Elegant Homes as their show homes reflected our tastes and sense of style. It was designed by Kata Trakostanec and it was the last one she created, so we consider ourselves very lucky to have had her vision throughout the home,” they share.

The focus was on a practical home, given a growing family, with a massive kitchen island to facilitate family interaction and views open to the spacious great room with casual dining nestled between. Upstairs, all four bedrooms enjoy attached ensuites, including the master, opting to be close and ideal for families with small children.

The main level was designed with entertainment in mind, with sprawling layouts enhanced by staggered ceiling heights for room definition and creative details that denote personal artistic expression. Hosting 4,750 square feet on the top two levels and a 2,250-square-foot developed basement, casual pursuits include a fitness room, an open home theatre with projection screen, a full wet bar, wine room, and games area.

With a desire to maximize stellar mountain views, all west-facing rooms feature prominent windows that further afford brightly engaging decors. “Our great room windows angle south and we have folding door access to the sixty-foot deck with a built-in fireplace. Our overlook above the great room also faces west and gives us a birds-eye-view of the landscape,” describe the homeowners.

Influenced by Eastern European design, the décor reflects their tastes with a little something extra. “Trevor Duval took our ‘peacock’

concept and ran with it. You can see his artistry in our bedroom and dining room ceilings and in the curved wall of the staircase. He did a great job,” they agree. “When we saw his portfolio of nudes, we liked the idea for our master ensuite, which really brings a Grecian, spa-like feel.”

Keenly observing the build, given his background in engineering, the husband expresses that Elegant Homes acted on their recommendations. “We maximized the space and enhanced practical elements to accommodate our daily lifestyle. They allowed us to make changes during the build and to personalize the experience. The design process evolved during our two-year build.”

Enjoying the amenities and conveniences that Aspen Ridge Heights has to offer, they add, “We are walking distance to our children’s school and there is a lovely front public courtyard and pathways between and behind the houses, so it affords a real sense of space and identity.”

Now in their dream home with everything that they wanted as their children grow, they conclude, “We had two homes prior to this and now are exactly where we wanted to be with everything we need for our family and friends to enjoy.”
